On being an adult throwing food at people

Some of my best memories are of throwing food at people.

Not as a kid, but as an ostensibly grown-ass adult.

There was Eric, who was a great friend, but very verbal and who could go on a tear when he got passionate about something.  Sitting in our little group of collegiate drama nerds at TGI Fridays in San Diego one summer, Eric got into a rant on a subject I don’t even recall.  All I remember was that I didn’t agree and couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

So I did the next best thing – I threw a breadstick at his face.

His diatribe might as well have been bisected by a guillotine.  He immediately dropped into a stunned silence, staring at me like I had grown a dick on my face where my nose should be.

Jon, the alpha of our little nerd club, started laughing riotously.

Eric finally found his words – “I can’t believe you did that … that was so rude and inappropriate.”

“I know!” Jon crowed, despite the fact that Eric had been addressing me and not him.  “But it was so effective!  It accomplished exactly what he was trying to accomplish, in record time!”

What immature behaviors do you hold near and dear to your heart?
